Qian Xuantong

(1887 - 1939) - phonetician
Qian Xuantong (錢玄同 in pinyin: qian2 xuan2 tong1) (1887-1939) was a Chinese phonetician who promoted bai hua (the vernacular style of Chinese).

Birth given name: Xing (行 xing2)
字: Xia (夏 xia4)
Qian was born in Wuxing (吳興), Zhejiang. He held the position as a professor in numerous universities.

His son Qian Sanqiang was a nuclear physicist who contributed to development of nuclear weapon in China.
