Jacob Burnet

(1770 - 1853) - judge and U.S. Senator from Ohio
Jacob Burnet (1770-1853) was an American jurist and statesman from Ohio. He was born in Newark, New Jersey on February 22, 1770, the son of William Burnet, Jr. He studied law, moved to the Northwest Territory and settled in Cincinnati. Burnet was an associate justice on the Ohio State Supreme Court from 1821 to 1828, and U.S. Senator from 1828 to 1831. He died in Cincinnati on May 10, 1853, and is buried in the Spring Grove Cemetery there.
