Carel Fabritius

(1622 - 1654) - painter
Carel Fabritius (1622-1654) was a Dutch painter born in Middenbeemster. He was a student of Rembrandt who initially imitated his master's style before finding one of his own. He died in his studio in Delft on October 12, 1654 when a gunpowder magazine exploded. Many of his works were also destroyed in the explosion.
